Vikrama Industries: frequently asked questions

Everything about ordering custom corrugated boxes, answered plainly. Vikrama Industries makes custom corrugated packaging for Indian brands: mailer boxes, shipping boxes, printed boxes, die-cut boxes and heavy-duty 7-ply boxes, all cut to your size. These answers cover how ordering works, how pricing and quotes are built, sizes and units, printing and artwork, minimum quantities, samples, dispatch and GST invoicing. Each answer stands on its own, so you can read only the ones you need.

Ordering and process

How do I place an order with Vikrama Industries?

Share a box spec or send a photo of your product or current box on WhatsApp. The quote engine at /quote returns a live price band from your size, ply, quantity and print level, then a human confirms the exact figure on WhatsApp usually in minutes, always within 24 hours. You approve a physical sample before any production run begins, production happens in NCR, and the order dispatches pan-India with tracking and a GST invoice.

Do I have to get on a phone call to order?

No. Vikrama Industries is WhatsApp-first, so the whole order can run over chat: spec, quote, sample approval and dispatch updates. A call is available only if you want one, but nothing about ordering requires it.

How fast do you reply, and on which days?

Vikrama Industries replies 7 days a week, usually within a few hours. Quote confirmations are given usually in minutes, always within 24 hours, since the final number depends on the current kraft paper rate and your run details.

How long does it take to get a confirmed price after I share a spec?

The quote engine gives you a live price band straight away. A human then confirms the exact figure on WhatsApp usually in minutes, always within 24 hours, since the final number depends on the current kraft paper rate and your run details.

Pricing and quotes

How does the instant quote engine work?

The engine at /quote takes your box size, ply choice of 3, 5 or 7, quantity and print level, then estimates cost from board area times the GSM for that ply times a kraft paper rate band, plus conversion, print and a quantity discount. It returns a live price band, and a human confirms the exact figure on WhatsApp usually in minutes, always within 24 hours.

Why do you give a price band instead of a fixed price?

Recycled kraft paper trades roughly Rs 38 to Rs 46 per kilogram as the market moves, so a single fixed number would be wrong the moment the paper rate shifts. Vikrama Industries shows a band that reflects that range, then a human pins the exact figure for your specific run usually in minutes, always within 24 hours.

What drives the price of a corrugated box?

Four things mainly: the board area of your box, the ply you choose because more ply means more grammage per square metre, the kraft paper rate at the time, and the print level. Quantity matters too, since larger runs earn a quantity discount. The quote engine at /quote combines these into a live band.

How much paper does each ply use?

As a working guide, 3-ply board is about 420 grams per square metre, 5-ply is about 700 grams per square metre, and 7-ply is about 980 grams per square metre. More ply means more paper by area, which is one reason a heavier box costs more. The quote engine uses these figures with the current paper rate to build your band.

Can I get an exact price rather than a band?

Yes. The band from /quote is the live estimate, and a human confirms the exact figure for your run on WhatsApp usually in minutes, always within 24 hours. The confirmed number is what you approve before a sample and a production run.

Is there a corrugated box price list or calculator?

The corrugated box price page has a live calculator and worked price bands by size and ply. That page is the price list: enter your spec for a band, then a human confirms the exact figure usually in minutes, always within 24 hours.

What does a corrugated box cost as a rough guide?

As a worked example, a plain 12 by 10 by 6 inch box in 5 ply at 1,000 units is about Rs 21 to Rs 29 each. The corrugated box price page shows more worked bands by size and ply. Prices attract 5% GST (HSN 4819).

Do bulk orders lower the per-box price?

Yes. Larger runs sit in a lower quantity-discount band, so the per-box price falls. The corrugated box price page and the bulk and wholesale boxes page both show the break bands as worked examples.

Sizes and units

What box sizes can I order?

Every box is made to your size, so there is no fixed stock catalogue of dimensions. You give the internal length, width and height you need, choose a ply and print level, and Vikrama Industries builds to that. This applies across mailer boxes, shipping boxes, printed boxes, die-cut boxes and 7-ply boxes.

Can I order in millimetres or do you only use inches?

Both. The quote engine is dual-unit, so you can enter your dimensions in inches or millimetres, whichever your spec uses. There is no need to convert first.

How should I measure a box for a quote?

Give the internal length, width and height, which are the dimensions of the space your product sits in, and say whether they are in inches or millimetres. If you are unsure, send a photo of your product or current box on WhatsApp and a human will help work out the right internal size.

What flute thicknesses do you offer?

As a public guide, flute E is about 1.5mm, flute B is about 3mm, flute C is about 4mm, and BC combined is about 7mm. Thinner flutes suit fine print and retail boxes, thicker flutes carry more protection and load. A human helps match the flute to your product.

Printing and artwork

What kind of printing do you use?

Printing is flexographic. A printing plate is made once from your artwork, then held so repeat runs use the same plate. A proof is shared before production so you can check the print before any boxes are made.

What print levels can I choose?

Three levels: plain with no print, 1 colour, and multi colour. Your print level is one of the inputs to the quote at /quote, since more colours mean more plates and more work. A proof is shared before production whichever level you pick.

What do you need from me for artwork?

Share your artwork so a printing plate can be made from it. Vikrama Industries makes the plate once and shares a proof for your approval before production. If you do not have print-ready files yet, message on WhatsApp and a human will talk you through what is needed.

Do I have to remake the plate every time I reorder?

No. The plate is made once from your artwork and held for repeat runs, so a reorder of the same printed box uses the same plate rather than starting again. A proof is still shared before production when you want to check.

Minimum quantities and samples

What is the minimum order quantity?

Minimums are typically a few hundred pieces per size and vary by box format, so treat this as a Vikrama Industries typical range rather than a fixed rule. Tell a human your box and quantity on WhatsApp and they will confirm the minimum for that format.

Do I get a sample before the full run?

Yes. You approve a physical sample before any production run begins, so you can check the size, board and print in your hands first. Production only starts once you are happy with the sample.

What is the difference between the proof and the sample?

The proof is a preview of the printed artwork shared before production so you can check the print. The physical sample is an actual box you hold and approve before the full run. Printed orders can involve both: a proof for the artwork and a sample for the finished box.

Dispatch and tracking

Where are the boxes made and where do you ship?

Production runs in NCR through a partner unit until Vikrama Industries own plant phases in, and dispatch is pan-India with tracking. You get tracking on the shipment so you can follow it to your door.

Can I track my order once it is dispatched?

Yes. Every dispatch goes out pan-India with tracking, and updates come to you on WhatsApp, so you can follow the shipment without needing a call.

How is courier weight calculated for my boxes?

Indian couriers bill the greater of the actual weight and the volumetric weight. Volumetric weight uses the divisor 5000: multiply length by width by height in centimetres and divide by 5000. This is why a box cut to your product, rather than an oversized one, keeps the billed weight down.

Billing and GST

Do you provide a GST invoice?

Yes. A GST invoice is issued for every order, so your packaging spend is properly documented for your books and input credit.

When do I pay and how is the amount fixed?

The exact figure is confirmed by a human on WhatsApp usually in minutes, always within 24 hours of your quote, and that confirmed amount is what you approve before a sample and production. Message on WhatsApp for the payment steps, and a GST invoice is issued for the order.
