What is the minimum order for printed boxes?
Every printed run carries fixed setup. Board is cut to your size, a flexographic plate is made from your artwork, and the press is set and washed down after. That work costs the same whether you make 200 boxes or 2000. So VI sets a typical minimum per box size to keep the per unit price sensible. For plain and single colour work that minimum sits in the low hundreds. Multi colour runs start a little higher, because each colour adds a plate and a press station to set up.
Read this as VI's typical range and not a market law. We can quote smaller runs. The trade off is plain: the fewer boxes you order, the more each box has to carry of that one time setup, so the per unit band goes up. The bigger the run, the thinner that setup spreads, which is where the quantity discount in our pricing comes from.
Why does a printing plate cost extra?
Flexographic printing works off a plate. Your logo and artwork are burned onto a flexible polymer plate, one plate per colour. The press inks that plate and rolls it onto the board. Making the plate is a one time job. Once it exists, VI holds it for your repeats, so your second order does not pay to make it again.

This is why plain boxes are cheapest to print and multi colour is dearest. Plain has no plate at all. One colour needs one plate and one press station. Multi colour needs a plate and a station for each colour, plus tighter registration so the colours line up on the board. A digital proof is shared before any of this reaches the press, so you sign off on the layout, the colours and the panel positions first.
Which print level fits your box?
Pick the print level by what the box does, not by what looks best on screen. A plain inner carton does not need multi colour. A retail unboxing box usually does. Here is how the three levels line up.

Print level is a multiplier in the VI quote, applied on top of the board cost. So the same box in plain, one colour and multi colour gives you three different bands from the same board and size.
What should your artwork file include?
A clean artwork file saves a round of back and forth and keeps your proof on schedule. Send these with the file so the plate is cut right the first time.
- Vector artwork in AI, EPS or PDF, with all fonts outlined
- The exact box size: length, width and height in mm
- Colours called out as Pantone references, not just screen RGB
- A clear note of which panels print and which stay plain brown
- Your logo at the size it should appear, not stretched to fill a panel
- Any barcode or statutory text kept clear of fold and crease lines
If you only have a raster logo, send the highest resolution you hold and we will tell you whether it holds up at box size. A small web logo blown up to a full panel prints soft, so this is worth checking before the plate is made.
How long from artwork to dispatch?
The timeline below is VI's typical working day range for a first printed order. Repeats are quicker, because the plate already exists and only the sample and run remain.

A paper market spike or heavy monsoon humidity can stretch a stage, because board loses some stiffness in high humidity and gets held longer for conditioning. Every batch is GSM verified and burst tested before it ships, so a slow week is usually the board doing its job, not sitting idle.

Is the plate cost charged on every order?
No. The plate is a one time cost cut from your artwork. VI holds your plate for repeats, so your next order of the same design does not pay to make it again. You only pay for a new plate if you change the artwork or add a colour.

Often yes. The minimum is VI's typical range, not a hard wall. On a smaller run the fixed setup spreads over fewer boxes, so the per unit band rises. We will show you the band at your actual quantity so you can decide.
Do I see the box before the full run prints?
Yes, twice. First a digital proof of the layout for your sign off, then a physical sample of the actual printed box. Production only starts once you approve the physical sample, so you are never committing hundreds of boxes to an unseen print.
What print level do most first orders pick?
It depends on the job. Inner and plain shipping cartons usually go plain or one colour. Retail and unboxing boxes usually go multi colour for the full brand artwork. The instant quote shows you all three bands so you can weigh the cost against the look.
How is the printed box price worked out?
Board area by GSM for the ply, times the kraft paper rate band in rupees per kg, times a conversion and margin band, times the print multiplier, with a quantity discount on top. Print is a multiplier on the board cost, which is why plain, one colour and multi colour give three different bands.
Where are the boxes made and how are they invoiced?
Production runs in NCR through a partner unit until VI's own plant phases in, with dispatch pan India. Every order ships on a GST invoice, so you get input tax credit and a clean paper trail.
