Punjab Printers Raise Packaging Rates 15 to 20% | Sept 2026
The Offset Printers Association, based in Ludhiana, revised prices for printing and packaging products and services by 15 to 20% with effect from 21 September 2026. It cited kraft paper and duplex board rising by Rs 4 to 6 per kg, corrugated boxes and cartons up over 10%, and higher costs for films, inks, adhesives and energy.
What did the Offset Printers Association announce?
The Offset Printers Association, based in Ludhiana, announced a 15 to 20% revision in prices for printing and packaging products and services, effective 21 September 2026. The decision covers units across Punjab and neighbouring states, and the association tied the move to a run of input costs it says its members can no longer absorb.
The association also said members would take on fresh work only at the new rates rather than honour old pricing on new orders. Its Senior Vice President put the position plainly.

Beyond paper and board, the association named films, inks, chemicals, adhesives and energy as further pressures on the cost of a printed job. Taken together, these are the reasons it gave for a revision that lands across printing and packaging work, not one product line.
Why does a Punjab printers decision matter to NCR buyers?
Our view: a rate decision in Ludhiana does not stay in Ludhiana. Punjab and the NCR draw on the same North Indian paper supply, so the kraft and board pressures the association names are the same ones feeding into board costs here. When the input side moves for one region, it tends to move for the whole belt.
The second link is the printed carton and label. For many brands, print is part of the packaging bill, not separate from it. When printers raise rates on printed cartons and labels, that pressure shows up in the delivered cost of a brand's packaging even when the corrugated box is bought elsewhere.

To put the paper side in numbers, take the Rs 4 to 6 per kg rise the association reported and apply it to a plain corrugated box. On a 3 ply 12 by 10 by 6 inch box, that works out to about Rs 0.88 to Rs 1.33 more. On the same box in 5 ply, it is about Rs 1.47 to Rs 2.21 more.
